But the Wild defenseman says he’s happy in Minnesota and won’t sacrifice a great situation just to play with them.… pic.twitter.com/WD631D4fjj
About playing on the same team with his brothers, Jack & Luke, he said this:
I think, obviously, like, yeah, there's a draw to playing with those guys at some point. But I think Jack said it perfectly at the Media Tour: I'm not going to sacrifice a great spot for me to play ... with them."
Certainly, if the measuring stick is playing with a team that has a chance at winning a Stanley Cup, it would be hard to argue that the New Jersey Devils (his brothers' current squad) are closer than his Wild.
As for the extension talks, he reiterated that he's not feeling any pressure to sign before Opening Night, and will sign when he's ready.
Quinn Hughes said there’s “no issues” with contract talks, he’s just taking his time. He’s not stressed if he’s not signed before season, but obviously could happen before that. #mmwild pic.twitter.com/bzkf0eL9ko

"I don't feel stressed to do something before the season. And that's not saying that something won't, but that's just how it is."
Hughes is heading into the final season of his six-year deal with a $7.85 million AAV. His next cap hit could potentially start with a '2'. As in 20-something. Or at least be somewhere close.
