Minnesota Wild Continue To Be Linked To Dylan Larkin

The Minnesota Wild may have a lot on the go at the moment regarding Quinn Hughes, but that doesn't mean general manager Bill Guerin isn't trying to upgrade his roster. Specifically, down the middle of the ice.

With training camps officially opening this week, the Wild have been linked to trade talks involving Detroit Red Wings former captain Dylan Larkin. Larkin's requested a trade, had his 'C' stripped off his jersey, and even though he'll report to camp, he prefers to be traded to either the Wild, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, or Vegas Golden Knights. 

The Wild need help at center and currently sit with just $1.1 million in cap space to work with. Larkin, 30, is signed through the 2031 season at $8.7 million AAV, so Guerin will need to be very creative to pull this deal off.

The Wild could package Ryan Hartman, who earns $4 million, along with Yakov Trenin, who is owed $3.5 million this season, and throw in a first-round pick and top prospect. The Red Wings don't currently have a general manager, so don't expect to see this trade go down in the next 48 hours, but don't be surprised to see Larkin eventually end up on the Wild.

Hughes on the other hand? That's a whole other problem for Guerin, as it seems the mobile defenceman isn't in any rush to sign an extension, and is going to see how this season plays out in Minny.
