The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Monday night that center Ben Kindel suffered a lower-body injury against the Buffalo Sabres.

Kindel left Monday's game after the first period, and it was unclear exactly what caused the injury. Kindel did crash into the net earlier in the period, and was a little slow to get up. While he managed to still play the rest of the period, many are pointing to this instance as the reason.

Kindel isn't expected to suit up on Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings, and is likely going to take a few days off the ice. The young center had been playing alongside Bryan Rust and Andrei Kuzmenko, in what many are saying is the true second line of the Penguins.

Kindel is coming off a great rookie season, posting 17 goals and 18 assists in 77 games. He's quickly burst onto the scene for the Pens, and is one of the best young talents in the game. Kindel's going to lead the next wave of core talent in Pittsburgh, as the aging core including Sidney Crosby, Erik Karlsson, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin won't be all together for much longer.

Kindel was originally selected with the 11th pick of the 2025 NHL Draft, and has seamlessly become an NHL pro, who prides himself on a strong work ethic, something he'll certainly learn to master following #87 around in practice.
