Tampa Bay Lightning Bring In Former 2nd-Round Pick On PTO

The Tampa Bay Lightning have brought in a little depth at forward to battle it out at training camp, signing former second-round pick Kole Lind to a PTO (professional tryout).

Kole Lind, 27, has spent the last four seasons in the AHL with Coachella Valley and Texas, including two Calder Cup Finals appearances with the Firebirds.

Current Lightning assistant general manager Jeff Tambellini was the Seattle Kraken's Director of Player Development while Lind was in the organization. He put up a couple of very impressive seasons with Coachella Valley in the AHL during that time (2022-23, '23-'24), posting 127 points in 141 games (47 goals, 80 assists) with a plus/minus rating of +26. He also added 42 points in 44 playoff games in those two years.

In 31 NHL games across parts of three seasons, Lind has eight points, averaging 11:56 of ice time in those contests.

If he isn't able to crack the Bolts' lineup at camp, and that will be a tall order, he would likely earn himself a deal to play with their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. 

Lind, a 6'1" forward, was the 33rd overall pick (second round) by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2017 NHL Draft.
