'Unbelievable' Development For Connor Bedard Ahead Of Training Camp

Connor Bedard had himself an excellent summer. signing a five-year, $15M AAV extension. On Tuesday, the excitement continued as he was named the 37th captain in Chicago Blackhawks franchise history.
Bedard, 21, was honored and thrilled with the move to name him the youngest captain in the NHL. 
Being named captain of the Blackhawks is an unbelievable honor and something I'm truly humbled by. The captains who have come before me have left an incredible legacy. To now have the opportunity to carry that tradition forward is something I don't take lightly.

I'm grateful to the organization and my teammates for putting their trust in me to lead this team. We're building something really special here, and I'm committed to making the entire Blackhawks organization and our fans proud.

The kid was so excited, he penned an article in the Player's Tribute, outlining his thoughts and plans in accepting the honor. 

He said he learned a lot about how to be a captain from the man he's taking the reins from, the since-traded Nick Foligno.

"I look back on the impact that Nick Foligno had here as captain, I could talk for a while about what a great leader he was. But one of the most important things Nick did was show me how to find the right balance. How to balance taking my responsibility to the team and to the city seriously, while also not forgetting how fun it is (and how lucky I am) to get to play this game I love every day. To get to be on a hockey team for our job."


Bedard has 203 points in 219 games over his first three seasons, and is clearly the leader of this team going into the future.
