One of the veteran free-agent forwards left unsigned to start this season, is finally off the market.

According to multiple reports Thursday night, the Dallas Stars are signing pesky winger David Perron to a one-year contract, worth $850,000.

The 38-year-old Perron can do a little bit of everything, even at his age, and will give the Stars a middle-six depth forward, who can move up the lineup if there's an injury. Perron's a winner, he knows what it takes to win important hockey games, and he's willing to do the little things on the ice to contribute.

Perron's regularly posted 45-plus points throughout his career, posting the number eight seasons in a row, and unfortunately, of late, he hasn't contributed much offensively. Perron's last two seasons have been 28 points in 64 games, split between the Red Wings and Senators, and a 16-point season the year prior, in 43 contests.

Perron has 1,239 games of NHL experience under his belt, including a Stanley Cup championship, he's contributed 332 goals, 480 assists, and another 64 points in 110 Stanley Cup Playoff games. The Stars have scored just 16 games this season, so there was a lot of speculation they were considering Perron, Vladimir Tarasenko, or Patrik Laine.

Now we know, it's Perron they're comfortable with adding to the mix.
