Oilers Lose Zach Hyman Once Again In Scary Scene

Another tough break for the Edmonton Oilers and Zach Hyman Monday. The gritty forward left the game dazed after a scary scene, having his head hit the glass on a check into the boards.

"The fact that Zach Hyman has had similar injuries since the start of the season—and missed six games—and now he's hurt again in such a small window of time—that's very concerning," said Darren Dreger on TSN.

"Any time you get injured twice, it's not a good sign," head coach Mike Babcock said. "He's a very important piece for us, so that wasn't fun to watch that."

This will be a concussion protocol type of thing for Hyman, at best. He'll be out at least a week, potentially longer. Mark Spector said on the Tom Gazzola Show Tuesday morning that this is not a good sign for the 34-year-old forward.

"Hyman's scary man, because Babcock intimated that the injuries were the same, the first injury and the second injury... Last night's injury was a concussion, you could see it. So, if that's two concussions in rapid succession like that, it's really really lousy for Zach Hyman, that's not good. I won't speculate on how long he could be out, but it's a wide-open window right now."

It's another brutal loss for the Oilers lineup, after suffering through a number of injuries this season.

Prayers up for Hyman, and we'll keep you posted as updates on his condition and timeline come in.
