Report: Flyers Receiving More Trade Calls On Owen Tippett

Philadelphia Flyers winger Owen Tippett has drawn more trade calls than Travis Konecny historically, according to Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco, who was told by team sources that it’s largely because of Konecny’s no-movement clause.

Why Tippett Draws Calls

Tippett is 27, and is currently carrying a $6.2 million cap hit through 2032, which works out to an eight-year, $49.6 million deal, and has a 10-team no-trade list through 2030.

He’s a three-time 27-plus goal scorer and has posted at least 20 goals and 40 points in each of his four full seasons with the Flyers, with a career-high 28 goals and 53 points in 2022-23.

Tippett has one goal and one assist in nine games this season, and he went on injured reserve October 19 with an upper-body injury.

A Western Conference GM told Daily Faceoff that Konecny is viewed as the better all-around player while Tippett is considered more explosive, and that a team seeking a partner for a top-tier forward would likely target Konecny.

Konecny is 29, has an eight-year, $70 million contract with a no-movement clause, and has played five games this season.

The Flyers’ Logjam

Di Marco wrote that a team source said something is eventually going to have to give with the wingers, and that it could lead the Flyers to explore trades for more than one while looking for a top-six center.

Philadelphia started 0-6-3 before winning three straight, including a win over Colorado, and young players like Porter Martone, Matvei Michkov, Alex Bump, and Trevor Zegras, who is now considered a winger, have crowded the lineup.

Daily Faceoff was told the Flyers like Kraken center Matty Beniers, though there’s no indication Seattle wants to move him, and that Tippett plus a center prospect like Jett Luchanko would be a more appealing package from Philadelphia’s side.
