Red Wings' GM Sets Asking Price For Dylan Larkin Trade

Detroit Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff has the tall task of trying to trade Dylan Larkin, and according to TSN's Darren Dreger, it sounds like Horcoff has set his asking price.

Larkin demanded a trade over the summer, had his 'C' ripped off his jersey, and now is in the awkward stage of playing through the trade talks. Dreger feels Horcoff will be looking for three or four pieces for his skilled center.
Darren Dreger: Re Dylan Larkin trade request/Red Wings: Three or four pieces is what Shawn Horcoff is looking for; you’re talking about two A-quality prospects...a top-nine forward who can play...right now, and... a 1st - Early Trading (10/15)

The issue for this trade is the team's Larkin has approved on his no-trade clause. There's been speculation of up to 12 teams on Larkin's wish list, however, most, if not all of the teams, are playoff-bound contenders, who don't have the cap space to make Larkin's $8 million cap hit fit.

The Minnesota Wild have been reportedly making a strong run recently by upping their offers, as Wild GM Bill Guerin continues to search for a top-line center. If Larkin had the Montreal Canadiens on his approved list, word is the Canadiens would pounce, and provide the Red Wings with their ask, as long as it doesn't include NCAA prospect, Michael Hage.

Two other teams to consider for potential destinations - the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins have the pieces to make the trade work, and Larkin likely approves the deal. Meanwhile, the Flyers are likely not on Larkin's list, but want to make drastic roster changes, and could try to convince him to head to the city of brotherly love.

For now, Larkin remains a Red Wing, and Horcoff continues to mull trade offers.
