Report: Edmonton Oilers Making Trade Offers
The Edmonton Oilers are far from a finished product this season, and expect to see general manager Stan Bowman make some more roster changes. According to multiple reports, the Oilers are making trade offers trying to land some forward depth.
Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman dove into the trade talks on Saturday night. "(The Oilers) have a lot of D and some forward injuries. They have explored a lateral trade — maybe a defenceman for a forward," Friedman said during the Saturday Headlines segment of Saturday Night Hockey. "Their forwards are not out long-term, so it's not like they're panicked to do it. But if there is a lateral D for forward move they can make with their depth players, they will look at it."
The Oilers are dealing with some injuries up front, including Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, Matthew Savoie, Mattias Janmark, and Jason Dickinson. For now, the likes of Max Jones and Josh Samanski are seeing much more ice-time than the time anticipated.
The Oilers offense isn't the problem early on, but they need to find some depth forwards, who can play a tough two-way game, and forwards who are versatile to play all over the lineup.
Keep an eye on Bowman and the Oilers, trade talks are heating up early on this season. As for head coach Mike Babcock, he's just happy his team didn't give up another touchdown:
Mike Babcock's in mid-season form 🤣🤣🤣 #LetsGoOilers https://t.co/VsTzS3LPli
