Report: Blackhawks Preparing More Roster Changes

The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to keep working the trade market as a disappointing start puts more pressure on general manager Kyle Davidson to change a roster that was supposed to be further along.

TSN’s Chris Johnston reported that Chicago has been looking to add forward depth, noting that the club believed it would be contending for a playoff spot by this point in the season.

Roster Over Coaching Staff

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said this week that he believes the Blackhawks will try to make some moves, though he did not name a target.

Friedman also said he does not see Davidson as the one on the way out given the contract extension he received earlier this year, and he does not believe the organization wants to pin the struggles on head coach Jeff Blashill.

Others around the Blackhawks have also noted that questions are being raised about the jobs of both Davidson and Blashill, adding that a trade becomes the most logical route if Davidson is reluctant to fire a third coach.

What Chicago Is Looking For

Frank Seravalli reported recently that Davidson has been active in the market looking for shoot-first scoring wingers with size.

Deals can be hard to find at this point in the calendar, and making a trade just for the sake of making one is obviously a risky move.
