Free Agent Robby Fabbri Signs PTO
Ten-year NHL veteran Robby Fabbri remained one of the league's unsigned unrestricted free agents through the first month of the season. He is ready to get back to playing hockey, however, as he's signed a PTO with the AHL's Hamilton Hammers.

Fabbri, 30, is hoping this could lead to another crack at the NHL. For now, though, the NY Islanders' AHL affiliate was desperate for some bodies. The Hammers have dealt with some key injuries, including one to forward Cole Eiserman. The team relocated from Bridgeport this season, but have gone 3-8-0-2 and are last place in the North Division.
Hellebuyck's training partner, Robby Fabbri, lands PTO
Fabbri had been keeping busy by skating and training with Connor Hellebuyck in Michigan while the goalie was holding out from the Winnipeg Jets. He told TSN's First Up last week that it was a great experience for him.
"When you play against a guy (like Hellebuyck) who's at the top of the sport, you really see it when you practice with him...
"We fed off each other every day and pushed to get better every day. It's not every day you get to shoot on an MVP, Vezina winner, and Gold Medalist for six weeks to get ready for the season. So that was a lot of fun to work with him and help each other stay sharp, stay focused and stay ready."
Robby Fabbri signs PTO, feels he's 'still an NHL player'
"I know, personally, I'm still an NHL player... And that's my ultimate goal, for sure... I still have many years left in the tank right now."
Fabbri was a first-round pick in 2014 by the St. Louis Blues, and spent his first three+ NHL seasons there. He returned to the Blues last season. In 15 games in what was his second stint with the team, he recorded four points. They would eventually place him on waivers, where he was claimed by the Minnesota Wild. He got into six games with Minny, scoring one goal.
In 10 seasons, through 463 games, Fabbri recorded 221 points with 563 hits. He averaged 14:56 of ice time per night.
His résumé includes a Stanley Cup from his first tour of duty with the Blues in 2019, a World Juniors Gold, and an OHL title.
