With goaltender Joonas Korpisalo loaned to the Hartford Wolfpack for a conditioning stint, the quality of the New York Rangers has the potential to improve. Korpisalo finished his first start in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack with a 34-save game.

The Wolfpack lost 4-1, but for Korpisalo who has been out of the lineup since September dealing with a foot infection shows promise that he'll be ready to return to the Rangers soon.

With good news surrounding Korpisalo's status, the Rangers have had to shift their priorities, and that means making space for the Finnish goaltender.

Mike Sullivan was pleased with his performance in Hartford:

"We'll have an opportunity to circle back and get some feedback from him," Rangers coach Mike Sullivan said Thursday morning in New York. "I know it went very well, he played very well."

Rangers Place James Reimer On Waivers After Disappointing Stint

They've had to waive James Reimer, who they signed to an $850K contract recently in a hurried manner trying to fill the void, with Dylan Garand being the only netminder the team who could rely upon.

Reimer suited up for one period this season for the Rangers, with an astounding result: a 9.00 GAA and a .625 SV%. It's difficult to see any other NHL team making it a priority to claim Reimer, who was once a reliable goaltender in his prime.

The 99th overall pick in 2009 has suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators, and New York Rangers.

Could this be the end of his chances at another stint in the NHL?
