Several Tradable Assets Listed For Blackhawks In Trade Talks

The Chicago Blackhawks 'have suddenly become very active' on the trade market, according to insider Elliotte Friedman.

The team has not started the 2026-27 season the way they'd hoped, stumbling out of the gate to a 4-13-1 start, the second-worst record in hockey. They're looking to bring in some proven NHL reinforcements as quickly as possible, Friedman said on Saturday Night Hockey.
The Blackhawks are definitely active in terms of trying to help their team.
He went on to list a number of tradable assets that the Hawks are dangling.
The Blackhawks have a lot of things out there. They’ve been asked about some of their prospects, they’ve been asked about some of their guys that can play center...

They have Florida's first-round pick; they have Edmonton's first-round pick; they have a couple of second-rounders in addition to their own first-rounder; those picks appear to be in play and they have traded high first-rounders before...

The other thing is, they’ve got Jordan Greenway out there, they’ve got (Teuvo) Teravainen, who’s struggled, out there.

The Blackhawks are definitely active in terms of trying to help their team.

The Oilers' pick, of course, will be almost akin to a second-rounder, and we'll have to see how low the Panthers' first-rounder will fall. As for Chicago's own first, that would be an extremely attractive trade piece at this point.

Regarding "their guys that can play center," the Hawks have a number of them, including Greenway. Teravainen can also play there. Their top three centers right now in the lineup are Connor Bedard, Anton Frondell and Ryan Greene. But others who can play the position include Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore, and Ryan Donato.

Teravainen, 32, is off to a slow start with just two goals through 15 games. He is a pending UFA, in the final year of a three-year deal, earning $5.4M.

Greenway, 29, is also a pending UFA, earning $4M in the final year of his deal. The physical, 6'6" fourth-liner is in his first season in the Windy City, acquired in the Bowen Byram trade. He was a recent healthy scratch, but was back in the lineup on Saturday.

Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson will try to cobble together groups of the above assets in an effort to help his team get out of the funk they've been in this season. They're currently on a six-game losing streak, and have won just one of their last 10 games.
