Jarome Iginla Trade Rumors

A few days ago, GM Darryl Sutter stepped down from the Calgary Flames by the request of team president, Ken King. The Flames are 14th in the Western Conference with only the Emonton Oilers sitting behind them. A disgrace for a team that is near the salary cap and is supposed to be challenging for the playoffs this year. Some blame lies with management, but some players on the Flames are underperforming as well.

Jarome Iginla is not one such player. He is having another great season and is still a point per game player with 35 points in 38 games. His supporting cast is failing him. Jay Feaster takes over as GM and he has difficult decisions on who to trade. Iginla, age 33 is a valuable power winger sought by many NHL teams. Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Nashville Predators, and Phoenix Coyotes are all interested in Iginla and Iginla himself may be wanting a change of scenery and to go to a legitimate cup contender.

Feaster can trade Iginla and in return get a high first round draft pick. It is time for the Flames to go into full rebuild mode and high draft picks would speed up the process. Jay Bouwmeester and Miikka Kiprusoff are other Flames that could be traded in the near future by Feaster.
