Brooks Laich Trade Rumors

Trade rumors continue to surround the Washington Capitals for the 2010-2011 NHL season. The Capitals are 5th in the Eastern Conference, on pace for far less points than their 121 points from the 2010 season, where they led the NHL. Part of the decline of the Capitals can be attributed to Alexander Ovechkin whose goal scoring pace has drastically reduced. Also, other teams in the division such as the Lightning, Thrashers and Hurricanes are becoming more competitive and it is harder to get points when playing SE rivals.

Brooks Laich is having a tough time in the 2011 season as well, with 9 goals and 18 assists in 52 games. The Capitals count on Laich to provide offense and he has not provided enough. McPhee is looking to trade Laich. Rumor has it that the Panthers, Senators, Maple Leafs and the Thrashers are interested. Look for Laich to leave Washington before the trade deadline.
