Trade rumors continue to surround the Carolina Hurricanes for the 2010-2011 NHL season. The Hurricanes are 9th in the Eastern Conference, one point behind the 8th place Thrashers and three points behind the 7th place Canadiens. With three 2011 All-Stars, Eric Staal, Cam Ward and rookie sensation Jeff Skinner, the Hurricanes are built to make the playoffs.

Jussi Jokinen is more known for being great in the shootout than being great during regulation. In the 2009-2010, he proved he can be great during regulation as well scoring 30 goals and 35 assists in 81 games played. He is on pace for more assists this season with 26 assists but less goals 12 in 44 games played.

Jokinen was placed on the first line to start the season and has bounced around to play on every other line, including the 4th line. He has been criticized for his defensive play at times and Rutherford is trying to offload his $3 million per year contract. The Maple Leafs and Thrashers have ample cap space, around $20 million, and want to trade for Jokinen. Look for Jokinen to be dealt before the trade deadline because there are a limited amount of highly skilled players available.
