Jeff Carter was the most likely Blue Jacket to get traded as I predict in my Rick Nash Trade Rumors. No surprise today when the Columbus Blue Jackets dealt Jeff Carter for Jack Johnson. Johnson was also rumored to be on the chopping block.

The trade is a good one from the Blue Jackets' perspective. They upgraded their defense, which they need to improve on. And they got a first round NHL Entry Draft Pick in 2012 or 2013. The Los Angeles Kings improved. According to GM of Kings Dean Lombardi, "Jeff is a proven goal scorer in our league. He brings goal-scoring abilities, speed, and at his age he is entering the prime of his career. We also like his versatility as he can play both center and wing.”

Carter reunites with his best friend Mike Richards who he has been separated from when they were both surprisingly traded from the Philadelphia Flyers last summer. Stay tuned for more breaking 2012 NHL Trade Rumors.
