Trade rumors are running rampant about Alexander Semin of the Washington Capitals for the 2012-2013 offseason. The 28 year old is coming off a contract with a cap hit of $6.7 million. GM George McPhee does not plan on re-signing Semin because he feels the winger lacks heart and is one of the main reasons the Caps have limited post-season success.

With only 21 goals scored during the regular season, his production has tailed off dramatically from the 40 goals he scored just a few seasons ago. Semin has two options: 1) Take a pay-cut and sign with another NHL team at July 1st Free Agency or 2) Bolt to the KHL and make a massive amount of money.

The Detroit Red Wings are interested in signing Alexander Semin to play with fellow countryman, Pavel Datsyuk.
