The Carolina Hurricanes are attempting to move Cam Ward before the March 5, 2014 NHL trade deadline. The Hurricanes have 3 goalies who are NHL calibre: Cam Ward, Anton Khudobin and Justin Peters. They share starts equally.

Ward who is 30 years old is the most established and prefers to start the majority of games. He is signed until 2015-16 season to an annual cap hit contract of $6.3 million. GM Jim Rutherford is shopping his goalie around the league.

The Minnesota Wild have goalie issues. Josh Harding is battling multiple sclerosis. Niklas Backstrom is no longer a viable starter. Look for the Wild to trade a third round draft pick in return for Cam Ward. The other available goalies are Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Jaroslav Halak of the Buffalo Sabres.
