jeff petry trade rumors edmonton oilers

Jeff Petry rejected a contract from the Edmonton Oilers and is going to be moved before the March 2 NHL trade deadline. Oilers GM Craig MacTavish has been trying to trade Petry for months. There are also rumors that Petry has already moved his family out of Edmonton.

Petry's $3.1 million contract is expiring and he is going to be an unrestricted free agent. The 27 year old has 15 points in 58 games this season. He is a second pairing right defenseman.

The Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, LA Kings, Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning are in a bidding war over Petry. The Edmonton Oilers want a second round draft pick and a young prospect in return.
