NHL Trade Rumor: Jacob Trouba to the Pittsburgh Penguins

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Winnipeg Jets could deal restricted free agent Jacob Trouba to the Pittsburgh Penguins if they can't re-sign the defenceman this off-season.

The relationship between the Winnipeg Jets management and defenceman Jacob Trouba has always been a bumpy one. And according to Elliotte Friedman, the Jets would deal the defenceman to the Pittsburgh Penguins, but half of the league is interested in Trouba's services.

Last season, during an arbitration settlement, Trouba was seeking upwards to $7 million per year, but was ultimately awarded a 1-year, $5.5 million contract. With his recent comments on his future with the organization, it is going to be traded most likely.
That's Chevy's job, Trouba told Sportsnet's Sean Reynolds when he was asked if he would help the Jets stay under the salary cap. So a hometown discount is most likely off the table.
Earlier this month, it was stated that the Pittsburgh Penguins were seeking a new look for next season and almost everyone is available (excluding Crosby of course.) Potential pieces are Kristopher Letang, Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin.

Could we see Trouba in Pittsburgh colours next season?
