NHL Trade Rumor: Maple Leafs close to signing one of their free agents

Maple Leafs General Manager, Kyle Dubas is in for the busiest offseason of his young career and according to sources close to the Maple Leafs, he's closing in on a deal with unrestricted free agent Ron Hainsey.

The believe is the deal will be a one-year deal, for roughly $1.5 million. The veteran defenseman has been integral in the development of Morgan Rielly, along with the other Maple Leafs young defensemen. Hainsey made $3 million last year, but with his production and the Maple Leafs cap crunch, the 38-year-old is expected to agree to accept less money to stay with the club.

In 2018/2019 Hainsey finished the year with 23 points and was a +21.

Good deal for the Leafs?
