Canada Captain Disrespects Team Russia

Team Canada's World Junior Team Captain, Barrett Hayton, is finding himself in some hot water. After Canada's convincing 6-0 loss to Team Russia, Hayton refused to remove his helmet during the playing of the Russian national anthem.

Russian captain, Girgori Denisenko, skated off of his blue line during the anthem and called this to the official's attention. The on-ice officials did not take action as this is likely not contrary to any of the tournament rules. Denisenko did not shake Hayton's hand during the post game hand shake. He instead pointed toward his helmet gesturing his displeasure for Hayton's perceived disrespect. The following three Russians also decided to skip out on shaking Hayton's hand. Hockey Canada and Barrett Hayton have both released a statement.
