Must Hear Clip: Wayne Gretzky Breaks Down Connor McDavid's Goal.

If Wayne "The Great One" Gretzky compliments your game, you must be something truly special. Not many of us have been complimented by Gretzky, but he sure had a lot to say about Connor McDavid's 'goal of the year' against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was interviewed on The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast, and his breakdown of this goal reveals his admiration for McDavid. Check it out.

Gretzky's scoring records include 894 goals, 1963 assists, for a combined total of 2857 career points. Fun fact; Gretzky would still hold the record for most points in NHL history without scoring a single goal. When game recognizes game, the value of the compliment is that much greater.

Here's what he said.
"... it wasn't a spur of the moment decision. I think he has the play in his mind before he even got over the blue line and that's pretty special."
Gretzky was also interviewed by Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com earlier this week and provided excellent feedback on McDavid.
"He brought me out of my seat. I've told him before that he does that to me. And he did that tonight. It was one of those special moments by a special player."
