NHLTR: Rangers and Blues working on deadline blockbuster

The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching and the Stanley Cup Champion, St Louis Blues are ready to make another push for the cup. Holding pat with their current roster is plan B, and according to the Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, Plan A could be acquiring Rangers forward Chris Kreider.

The deal would be Kreider to the Blues for a 2020 1st round pick and RW Jordan Kyrou, while the Rangers retain 50% of Kreider's remaining salary.

LeBrun went on to mention that 8 teams have informed the Rangers that Kreider is on top of their wish list, which means the Rangers are likely to hold on to their asset until the last minute to maximize the return. However, if a team steps up and blows their socks off, they could try and get ahead of the market.

No word yet when Vladimir Tarasenko is returning from injury for the Blues which will certainly influence the cap aspect of this trade, however, it's no secret the Blues and Rangers are talking trade and it's becoming a blockbuster.
