Calgary and New Jersey almost pulled off a blockbuster last year!

The New Jersey Devils and the Calgary Flames almost shocked the hockey world last year, as according to 31 Thoughts podcast, the two teams were very close to pulling off a blockbuster trade.

The deal would have seen hometown kid, Taylor Hall and RHD Sami Vatanen head to Calgary in exchange for LHD Noah Hanifin and C/LW Sam Bennett.

Hall was of course dealt to Arizona instead and Vatanen got shipped to Carolina, meanwhile, the Flames decided to keep both players.

The amount of deals that have fallen through the cracks or died last minute are huge, as GM's work the phones each and every day discussing deals.

Sometimes they get completed and sometimes they don't.

We're just the messengers...
