Rumor: Los Angeles Kings Could Deal Jonathan Quick

Jonathan Quick has been tending the crease in Los Angeles for 13 seasons and there's some potential this year could be his last. The Kings are in the midst of a 'retool' which could turn itself into a full blown rebuild in the blink of an eye. If this is the case, look for Quick to be traded out of Hollywood.

While Quick is under contract for the next three-years at an average annual value of $5.8 million, the 34-year-old goalie is only due $9 million in actual cash over the same three years. This certainly gives teams some incentive to bring the veteran on board as he'll be much cheaper than his cap hit.

Recently the Athletic's Craig Custance polled some NHL agents on who may be traded this upcoming year, and Quick's name came up as someone who could potentially be moved:
Jonathan Quick. His contract drops down, the payout drops down. They’re not trying to win. He’s healthy.

Quick is coming off a season where he finished with a 2.79 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in 42 appearances. Quick has battled injuries the past few seasons, but if he's healthy he would be an upgrade for multiple teams.

Expect interest to come from Colorado, Edmonton, Buffalo, Carolina and potentially Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers if their team's young goaltenders falter.
