Rumor: Travis Hamonic Closing in on New Deal

Travis Hamonic opted-out of the NHL's Bubble Playoffs but from all accounts he's ready to restart his hockey career. According to reports,  there's a great chance he remains in western Canada and his next team could end up being the Vancouver Canucks.

The ironic part here is the fact Hamonic's old team the Calgary Flames signed three players from the Canucks this past offseason, so it's only fair one would be going the other way.

Canucks head coach, Travis Green is a huge fan of Hamonic's and is hoping ownership is willing to add one more piece before the season begins.

Last season Hamonic finished the regular season with 12 points in 50 games and is known for being tough to play against and willing to stick up for his teammates. His offensive game is underrated and put in the right mix, Hamonic could get back to the 30-plus point seasons he was capable of as a New York Islander.

At this point don't expect a multi-year deal, as most free agents left on the board will take anything to get back into the league for next season. The Canucks currently don't have any cap space so it will be interesting to see how they can fit Hamonic in.
