Big Trade Coming For The Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche have had a mediocre start to their season with a 4-3 record. They have been dominant at times and have already registered two blowout victories. Their goaltending has been steady but it may become an issue as fatigue sets in during the 56 game race.

Head Coach Jared Bednar has expressed faith in Philipp Grubauer as the Avalanche's starting goaltender. He has played fairly well with a 0.919 SV%, 2.17 GAA and a 4-2 record. Grubauer isn't the issue, however. Pavel Francouz has yet to play a game this season due to injury and was officially placed on injury reserve just yesterday.

Hunter Miska started his first NHL game last week against the LA Kings. He recorded his first loss with a 0.885 SV% after letting in 3 goals on 26 shots. He will be getting more opportunities to prove himself as a reliable backup but we should expect the Avalanche to make a move in the near future.

The Avalanche have confidence in the 25-year-old Misa, but if he struggles and Francouz remains out, they might have to consider outside help.

As The Hockey Writers report, the Avalanche have some options to consider on the goalie market. Thomas Greiss of the Detroit Red Wings and  Antti Raanta of the Arizona Coyotes are the two best goaltenders who teams may be willing to part with. Expect the Avalanche to give up at least a first round pick if they're seeking to trade for a goaltender.
