Line Brawl Breaks Out Between Detroit And Columbus

The Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets faced off this afternoon in what can be called a spirited battle. Each team had their shining moments, but the Blue Jackets edged the Wings 3-2. Anthony Mantha scored (now credited to Bobby Ryan) with 57 seconds left in the game and it resulted in a line brawl.

Former University of Michigan teammates, Red Wings' Dylan Larkin and the Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski exchanged punches with smiles on their face. Even more interesting is that they are childhood bestfriends who grew up in the Detroit-Metro area. Players are not entitled to tickets for away games, so Larkin left two tickets at the box office for Werenski's parents. Nothing like giving them a little show.

Bobby Ryan took on Oliver Bjorkstrand as well. It was a spirited scrap with neither player gaining a meaningful advantage. Ryan received a game misconduct and finished the game with 17 minutes in penalties.

It all started when Ryan was pushed into the Blue Jackets' goaltender, Jonas Korpisalo, resulting with Ryan's second goal of the game. Korpisalo did not take kindly to Ryan toppling over him, which Tyler Bertuzzi took exception to. The next moment, everyone's gloves are off, some finding dance partners and others linking up.
