Vancouver Canucks Claim Toronto Maple Leafs Forward

The Vancouver Canucks have added to their roster as they have claimed forward Jimmy Vesey from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Vesey's short tenure with the Maple Leafs was inconsistent and Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas mentioned on Tuesday they waived Vesey to create some roster flexibility with goaltender Jack Campbell coming off the LTIR.

In 30 games with the Leafs, Vesey recorded five goals and seven points and started the season on the team's second line and has played the past month on the team's fourth-line.

The Canucks could use some more offense so they're hoping a change of scenery will spark Vesey's production. The pending free-agent is making $900,000 on the salary cap this season.

As for the Leafs they will be welcoming back Wayne Simmonds to the lineup and are expected to give Alex Galchenyuk a look this week. Both players were wearing regular sweaters at Leafs practice on Wednesday.
