One Potential Blockbuster Trade from the Maple Leafs and Blues

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to work the phones as they look for a dance partner on the trade floor, and general manager Kyle Dubas could have one in Doug Armstrong of the St Louis Blues. The two teams have reportedly discussed a big deal that could see Tyler Bozak heading back to the Maple Leafs, along with winger Mike Hoffman.

The potential deal would see Bozak and Hoffman and roughly half of their remaining salaries heading to Toronto in exchange for Alexander Kerfoot, Pierre Engvall, one draft-pick and a mid-level prospect.

Bozak, the long-time Leaf would slide into the team's third-line center role and would give the Leafs someone who can play a shutdown role for the playoffs. As for Hoffman, he's a sniper and has recorded 21 points in 36 games.

This trade would also get rid of Kerfoot's remaining salary for the next two seasons at $3.5 million per year, and give the Leafs more financial flexibility moving forward by also getting Engvall off the books for next season.

Pierre LeBrun of TSN made mention this week that the Blues were shopping their pending free-agents which included Mike Hoffman and the 35-year-old Bozak. If the Leafs were able to add both, this would be an absolute homerun for the team heading into the playoffs.

So far this season, Bozak has managed to record four points in 15 games, meanwhile Kerfoot has tallied 17 points in 40 games. Keep your eye on these two teams as something huge could be brewing.
