3 Teams Who Should Sign Veteran Defenseman Keith Yandle

With the Keith Yandle buyout finalized, the free agency market has gained another interesting left-handed defenseman. He is great at producing offense, but has received a lot of criticism over his defensive miscues. This is something teams should keep in mind when they try to sign him. However, even at the age of 34, he is still a great option to quarterback a team's powerplay. In 56 games this season, he scored three goals and recorded 27 total points. That is not too shabby and is the type of production that should intrigue some franchises. Furthermore, he had 45 points in 69 games the season before, as well as 62 during the 2018-19 season. On a new team, he could be able to do that again.

These three teams should work hard to sign him.

Boston Bruins: Yandle is from Massachusetts and the team happens to need some help on the left side of their defense. Yandle would give the Bruins that power play defenseman that they have needed since Torey Krug left. He could work well on a pair with the recently extended Brandon Carlo, as the latter is a very solid defensive defenseman. Also, his ability to stay healthy is something that should interest the B's. Their defenseman had a ton of injuries this year.

New York Rangers: Yandle played for the Rangers for a season and a half previously. If he wants to stay close to his childhood home, this could be another option. The Rangers do need some help defensively and Yandle could be play on either their second or third pair. Adding a grizzled veteran who is still productive would be very beneficial for the Rangers, as he could help mentor their younger players.

Philadelphia Flyers: The Flyers may be a potential team, as Yandle has a close connection with center Kevin Hayes. Furthermore, there is a very good chance that the Flyers will be moving on from Shayne Gostisbehere, as he was healthy scratched at times and even waived during this season. Yandle could be a nice replacement if this comes into fruition, as he too is an offensive defenseman. Yandle would likely come at a far cheaper at this stage, yet produce at a similar rate.
