New Jersey Devils to Sign Veteran Netminder

The New Jersey Devils are expected to be one of the busiest teams when free agency opens and it appears they have their eyes set on adding a goaltender. Jonathan Bernier is expected to sign with the club on Wednesday.

Last season Bernier was a bright spot for the Detroit Red Wings and after he was dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes and was unable to agree on a contract extension, the Devils became the front runner as they look for a veteran to pair with youngster Mackenzie Blackwood. Last offseason the team felt they had someone in Corey Crawford, who then of course retired.

Bernier put up stellar numbers in Motown last season with a 2.99 GAA and a .914 save %, and considering the team didn't win many games, they can't point the finger to the crease. Bernier will now try to carry on his recent success in Jersey, as the Devils are going to be making some serious moves this week and should have a much improved team next season.
