Edmonton Oilers: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season

With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.

In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Edmonton Oilers. There are two specific players who should be able to have better seasons this year from them. The Oilers surely need them to, as in the past, they have been capable of providing so much more during their careers.

Zack Kassian RW: In the middle of his career-high 34-point campaign in 2019-20, the Oilers rewarded Zack Kassian with a four-year, $12.8 million contract. However, he did not live up to his $3.2 million cap hit this season. In 27 games, the 30-year-old only scored two goals and recorded five points. This kind of production is far too low for his standards, so there is reason to believe that he can bounce back stronger this upcoming year.

Kyle Turris C: Kyle Turris signed a two-year, $3.3 million contract with the Oilers last off-season and it looked like a potential bargain. Yet, his first season with the Oilers was far worse than they imagined. He posted identical statistics to Kassian, as he too had two goals and five points in 27 games. Keep in mind, he had 31 points in 62 games with the Nashville Predators the season before. Therefore, he is capable of producing decent numbers as a third-line center. He should be able to yet again next season.
