Winnipeg Jets: 2 Prospects Who Could Make The Team Next Season

Having a strong prospect pool is such an important thing, as it helps determine the future success of all NHL franchises. Although it is always nice to be competitive now, things changes rapidly and it truly is a young man's league. Therefore, it feels right to start a 32-team segment covering them. During it, we will be looking at two prospects from every NHL franchise who could become NHL regulars next season.

In this specific article, we will be taking a look at the Winnipeg Jets. For a team that has a strong roster, it is interesting that they also have plenty of promising prospects. This is a team that could very well get stronger in the upcoming seasons because of this. Yet, there are two specific prospects for them who may be ready to take that leap and play for the NHL club this upcoming season.

Cole Perfetti C/LW: Cole Perfetti impressed in his first AHL season with the Manitoba Moose. In 32 games, the 19-year-old scored nine goals and recorded 26 points. That's impressive for such a young kid, so perhaps they could elect to give a chance in the NHL next season. With the departure of Mathieu Perreault, there is an open spot available to fight for. The 2020 first-round pick has the potential to be a real offensive threat and already is showing signs of being ready for the NHL. We will see if he finds his way into the lineup soon.

Ville Heinola D: Ville Heinola has all the tools to be an effective NHL defenseman. The 20-year-old has already suited up in 13 games for the Jets. In them, he has a goal and five points. At a minimum, Heinola will likely get some NHL action again this upcoming season. Yet, with the addition of Brendan Dillon and the Logan Stanley extension, he does have a lot of competition for that bottom-pair spot. He could start the season as the team's seventh defenseman or with the Manitoba Moose. If the latter occurs, he will likely be the first call-up when injuries inevitably occur.
