3 Potential Landing Spots For Hampus Lindholm

With Hampus Lindholm having just one year left on his contract with the Anaheim Ducks, he is another big rental candidate at this year's trade deadline. When healthy, he is a very solid two-way defenseman who is capable of being utilized on the power play and penalty kill if needed. Contenders are always looking to improve their defense before the postseason, so don't be surprised to hear if he has a lot of interest later in the season.

These three teams should absolutely be calling the Ducks about him.

New York Islanders: As we recently discussed, the New York Islanders were very interested in Lindholm this summer. They decided to sign Zdeno Chara, but his style of play differs significantly from off-season departure Nick Leddy. Lindholm could be worth exploring yet again because he is capable of producing offense from the backend. Furthermore, he would help strengthen their left side rather significantly. This would allow one of Chara or Andy Greene to fill out the bottom-pair.

Calgary Flames: The Calgary Flames could benefit from adding Lindholm to their top-four. He would form a nice pair with Chris Tanev. The Flames lost Mark Giordano to the Seattle Kraken this Expansion Draft and did not find a true replacement. Although Lindholm wouldn't make up for the leadership the Flames lost with Giordano leaving, he would be a nice replacement in terms of his potential offensive production.

Washington Capitals: If the Capitals are once again viewed as Stanley Cup contenders by the time the trade deadline is around, it would not be surprising to see them look to add a left-handed defenseman. They traded Brenden Dillon this off-season and could use another veteran like Lindholm to replace him. Lindholm could be an excellent fit in Washington, as he would have plenty of skilled forwards to get the puck to.
