Trade Rumor: Buffalo Sabres Reach Agreement on Certain Aspects of Eichel Deal

The Buffalo Sabres are in the middle of some trade conversations which are going to change the face of the franchise. While the talks continue with multiple teams, it appears the Sabres have finally released they will need to have some conditions on games played and draft picks in any deal for Eichel due to his health's uncertainty.

According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, here's what one of hockey's biggest insiders mentioned about the trade talks:

What I’ve heard from some teams around the league is that if this deal gets done, it’s going to have to have a conditional aspect to the trade, Eichel’s recovery and health very much affecting the final payout to the Sabres. And according to sources, Adams has acknowledged in trade talks that there may have to be a conditional aspect to the deal (likely games played, etc.)

Teams interested include the Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild. Medical records have been exchanged with multiple teams and some teams have a tremendous amount of interest while others would rather wait to see Eichel come back to the game first.  At this point he still needs surgery, and isn't likely to play in 2021-22. Risky business for sure if you are selling the farm for some potentially damaged goods.
