Vegas Golden Knights Getting Serious About Landing Jack Eichel

According to hockey insider Frank Seravalli the Vegas Golden Knights and Buffalo Sabres continue to work on a Jack Eichel trade and it appears an agreement is closer than ever before.

Word is Golden Knights forward Mark Stone and his injury status are currently a major factor in negotiations as the Sabres have no interest in retaining any of Eichel's salary moving forward and the Golden Knights basically have no money to work with under the cap.

Seravalli had this to say in his latest icebreakers:

There’s been lots of talk about the potential of the Jack Eichel camp filing a grievance over the next 10 days to two weeks because they’re hitting a wall. Eichel is hurt, he’s not getting any better, and they need to take some sort of path forward to resolve this injury that’s been lingering since way back in March.

The hope from everyone, both the Eichel side and the Sabres end, is that they’re able to make a trade before that step would become necessary. Everyone’s been holding their breath to this point, but I can tell you there’s been increased chatter between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Sabres about Jack Eichel over the last three to five days.

We know from Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet that the Golden Knights do not want to part with young forward Peyton Krebs. Look for this deal between the Sabres and Golden Knights to feature defenseman Nicolas Hague and at least one first-round pick. Expect to see some kind of condition as well which will be tied to Eichel's game appearances next seasons.

Word is the Calgary Flames are the only other team deep into talks with the Sabres and they now could be sitting on the outside looking onto the Vegas strip.
