Canadiens Provide Update On General Manager Search

On Friday morning, Montreal Canadiens new Vice President of Hockey Operations Jeff Gorton told reporters that the team will not hire a new general manager until after Christmas.

After an atrocious start to the season that still has yet to change, the Canadiens fired former Marc Bergervin from the role, as well as assistant GM Trevor Timmins and senior vice president of public affairs and communication Paul Wilson.

It has been noted that Montreal's next GM must be able to speak French. Furthermore, former Montreal Canadien and Hockey Hall of Famer Patrick Roy has openly stated he'd take the job if asked, so maybe he will be their guy.

Alas, once you celebrate Christmas with your loved ones, don't be surprised to see the Canadiens announce their GM shortly after.
