NHL Rumors: Latest on Jake DeBrusk Deal out of Boston

The Boston Bruins continue to work the phones as forward Jake DeBrusk has requested a trade. Bruins management has agreed a deal is best and the team will try to do whatever they can to maximize their return. Reports have surfaced suggesting the team has no preference for a forward or defenseman in return, they just want the best player available.

As many as 15 teams have contacted the Bruins about working out a deal and what they have to offer. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had this to say about the latest trade buzz out of Boston:

Boston is definitely willing to do a Jake DeBrusk deal, but on its terms. They are looking for the best defenceman/forward they can find, and are unafraid to take a chance on a younger player. But they are telling potential partners that they value DeBrusk, and won’t make what they feel is a bad deal because the trade request is now public.

Sounds like the Bruins are certainly going to be patient with this process. The 25-year-old DeBrusk has appeared in 20 games so far this season in Boston and has registered only seven points. This coming after a 2020-21 season where he collected 14 points in 41 games. It's been several seasons since he scored over 20 goals in a campaign.

It appears the Bruins winger has never been able to get on the same page with his head coach about his role on the team and here we are. Boston will continue to mull over the offers and will be deciding over the next couple of weeks what trade they are comfortable with. One thing's for sure, DeBrusk's days in Bean Town are coming to an end.
