NHL Rumors: Wild Trying To Trade Forward

According to Eric Duhatschek of The Athletic, the Minnesota Wild are looking to trade forward Victor Rask.

This isn't all too surprising to hear, as the Wild placed him on waivers earlier this month. However, teams decided to pass on him, as he carries an expensive $4 million cap hit for a bottom-six forward. However, perhaps a rebuilding team would be willing to take him on if sweeteners were added to the deal.

In 24 games this season, Rask has five goals and six assists. That isn't bad production, but he also hasn't been a mainstay in their lineup, either. The Wild simply have too much depth down the middle for him to get meaningful minutes, and this is especially true because of Ryan Hartman's breakout campaign.

If the Wild find a way to move Rask, it would give them more money to work with for the deadline. At this time, the Wild have a 24-10-3 record and look ready to go on a playoff run. As a result of this, it would be wise for them to make additions to their roster. Moving Rask's contract would only help them with that more.
