Maple Leafs Defenseman Out Indefinitely

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin will be out indefinitely, according to Nick Kypreos.
During Monday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, Muzzin got into a huge collision with Chris Wideman. The 33-year-old's head bounced off the ice, and he would immediately leave the game. Furthermore, he stayed in Montreal and went to the hospital to have tests done.

Muzzin missed seven games this season with a concussion, so this is a very concerning development. Given this fact, he very well could miss a lot of time or even the remainder of the year.

With Muzzin out indefinitely, the Leafs will have to adjust their defensive core from here. Assuming he's placed on LTIR, it will open the door for them to acquire another defenseman before the trade deadline passes. Given the uncertainty of his recovery time, this is probably the best course of action moving forward. This is especially true when noting Muzzin's importance to their blueline.

In 42 games this season, Muzzin has two goals, 10 assists, and a minus-8 rating.
