NHL Rumors: Coyotes Shopping Veteran Defenseman

According to Craig Morgan, Anton Stralman is another player from the Arizona Coyotes who could be traded before the deadline passes.

The Coyotes acquired Stralman from the Florida Panthers last summer. In 45 games with the team thus far, he has four goals, seven assists, and a minus-10 rating. Overall, he has had some decent moments during this campaign and could work well on a contender. He showed that effectively during his days with the Tampa Bay Lightning especially.

However, for the Coyotes to successfully trade Stralman, it will likely force them to retain salary. His $5.5 million cap hit is quite expensive, but if Arizona retained half of it, there certainly could be a market for the 35-year-old.

The Coyotes are expected to be major sellers at the deadline, so it makes sense that they are looking to move Stralman. He is in the final year of his contract and obviously isn't a long-term part of their current rebuild. It will be interesting to see if they are able to strike a deal involving him this March.
