Blackhawks Pick Their New General Manager

The Chicago Blackhawks are set to name Kyle Davidson as their new general manager

Davidson has been serving as the team's interim GM since Stan Bowman resigned from the position. Although giving Davidson a chance at GM is understandable, it certainly wasn't a guarantee. They interviewed several other people for the job. Some names include Peter Chiarelli, Scott Mellanby, Mathieu Darche, Eric Tulsky, and Jeff Greenberg. Yet, they have decided that Davidson is their guy.

Although Davidson is only 33 years old, he has been with the organization since the 2010-11 campaign. He was a video analyst intern and has since climbed himself all the way up to the GM position. That's a pretty cool story, to say the least.

Now with Davidson as the official GM of the Blackhawks, he has a number of decisions to make. Chicago has multiple players with expiring contracts and is out of playoff contention, so they are destined to be sellers. Let's see what moves he makes from here.
