Oilers Provide Update On Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

Edmonton Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft told reporters that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

With Edmonton currently fighting for a playoff spot, this certainly is not good news. At this time, they have a 29-21-3 record and are tied for the second Wild Card spot with the Dallas Stars. They also trail the Vegas Golden Knights by just one point for third place in the Pacific Division. Thus, the remainder of the season is immensely important to them.

Nugent-Hopkins hasn't played since February 26th's contest against the Florida Panthers. At first, it seemed possible that it would a day-to-day kind of injury, but that of course is now not the case. He certainly will be missed in their lineup, as he has seven goals, 30 assists, and a plus-4 rating in 45 contests. His 37 total points are also third on the team.

It will be interesting to see how the Oilers respond to not having RNH in the lineup for a decent chunk of time. Here's to hoping that the 2011 first-overall pick recovers quickly and can get back on the ice as soon as possible.
