Sabres Defenseman To Miss Time

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that Henri Jokiharju will be out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Jokiharju left February 23rd's contest against the Montreal Canadiens due to his injury. That was the last time he got into game action with Buffalo, but the team has not given an update about the 22-year-old defenseman until now. This certainly is not the news that they were hoping for, either.

With the Sabres rebuilding, Jokiharju is viewed as a big part of their future. In 36 games with the team this season, he has three goals, nine assists, and a minus-3 rating. He's on pace to have the best offensive season of his career, but now it, unfortunately, has to be put on pause.

At this juncture of the campaign, the Sabres have fallen to 7th place in the Atlantic Division and sport a 16-30-8 record. They are near the bottom of the NHL standings like most fans expected, so losing Jokiharju doesn't impact their playoff chances. However, it is still hard to see that the youngster has to miss time in the middle of his strong campaign.
