Blue Jackets Sign Promising Goalie To 3-Year Extension

All it took was four games at the NHL level for the Columbus Blue Jackets to know what they had. They've now locked up their promising young goaltender Daniil Tarasov to a three-year extension.

Tarasov will earn $1.05M per year.

The 23-year-old impressed during his four-game trial in December, with a 2.40 goals-against average, and a spectacular .937 save percentage. Unfortunately, that was all the Blue Jackets got to see of the youngster, as he suffered a season-ending hip injury.

Prior to coming to North America, Tarasov had played in the Finnish Liiga, as well as the KHL in his native Russia, where he posted an 11-3-2 record along with a .925 save percentage for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in 2020-21.

He should be fully recovered in time for training camp in the fall.
