NHL Rumors: Capitals Interested In Avalanche Center

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Washington Capitals are expected to pursue Nazem Kadri once he becomes a free agent this summer.

With Nicklas Backstrom's career in jeopardy, the Capitals are going to need bring in a center if they hope to remain a playoff team. Kadri is certainly an understandable UFA target that they should consider, as he just put together the best year of his career. In 71 games, the 31-year-old scored 28 goals and recorded 87 points. With that, he currently has 15 points in 14 playoff games.

It will be intriguing to see if the Capitals end up winning the Kadri sweepstakes this offseason. However, the London, Ontario native has one goal on his mind right now - winning the Stanley Cup for the Avalanche.
